The theme for this year’s National Poetry Day was ‘Stars’ so we used the named stars to create our own little Milky Ways.
There are approximately 400 stars with names and not just numbers in our galaxy, and pupils were asked to think what each name meant to them, add it to a star, decorate it and cut it out ready to be added to the wall.
Pupils in RE were also beginning their work on Creation, so we asked them to investigate some of myths and legends of the sky from around the world. This was a little more complicated as they had to try to focus a complete story to the single idea so it would also fit on a star.
Our galaxies are now shining brightly in the LRC and in the English corridor, and were admired on our Open Night.
