Picture books

I asked classes this week if they’d ever read any of the following books:

  • The very hungry caterpillar
  • We’re going on a bear hunt
  • Farmer Duck
  • The Gruffalo
  • The cat in the hat
  • Can’t you sleep little bear?
  • Guess how much I love you?
  • The tiger who came to tea

You wouldn’t believe the cries of delight and smiles that accompanied the hands that shot up, but lots of people had never read them (including certain English teachers, who shall remain nameless since they’ve promised to read them asap).

Ask yourself this: when did you last read something that made you cry out, “Oh I love that book!”

And I’ll be arranging some loans of these books so that EVERYONE can get a chance to read them. You’re never too old for a good story.
